We took a lazy day and decided to drive up to the Blue Mountains. Originally I wanted to go see Victoria Falls, but due to construction along the roadway we were unable. Instead, we went to the Scenic Overview. This was definitely a way cooler option. At the Scenic Overview you have the option of a few different modes of transportation to different parts of the forest. The first option we choose was the Gondola ride to the other side of the one of the mountains.
During the gondola ride we had perfect view of solitary rock and an outline of part of the Blue Mountains.
Some of the rock formations along the way are pretty interesting.
Once we made it to the other side, we hoped out for a quick hike around the side of the mountain to three sisters rock (to the upper left of dad’s head).
After we had taken the gondola back across, we hopped into this old rollercoaster-style coaster that took us down to the bottom of the ravine.
This used to be an old coal mountain and these were the cars that took the workers too and from the mines. This was me in one of the original cars, not sure I would have trusted that.
After a quick hike around the miner shelters, we walked back to the cars that took us back up to the top of the mountain crest. There was an option of taking stairs but after the Sydney Bridge Climb I think I’ll pass on stairs for a bit. There were two other similar gondola style rides but we opted to pass, its been a long few days so a little break was needed.
On the way back to Sydney, we stopped by this cute little restaurant called Leura’s Garage. It was an old auto garage turned pizzeria and it was delicious!
