On the way back from Noosa Beach and Fraser Island we decided to stop by the Glasshouse Mountains. Twenty plus hours of flying and a full day of 4-wheeling and it just seemed like a good idea to slow down for a stroll.

On the way up the mountain we stopped by the Glasshouse Mountains Cafe and had a wonderful brunch on this little porch overlook a cute little orchard and (surprise) the Glasshouse Mountains. These little mountains structures are pretty cool, they kinda just stick out of the relatively flat landscape of Oz. These formations used to be lava plugs for the volcanic activity underneath Australia. Pretty cool hunh!?! At least I think it is.

We strolled around the one of the lookout points and dad took a lot of pics. Ha, he sure is having a good time with my camera! Smile for the selfie dad!

To Wollengong and Beyond!

Further south in Sydney we decided to take a scenic drive along the coast to Kiama Lighthouse and Blowhole. Our first stop along the way was none other than Bald Hill and oh course, because of the name, Dad begged to stop for a quick pic. Bald Hill overlooks the beautiful of beach and molten-formed mountains with luscious trees in between.

A bit later we stopped along the coast for a quick lunch at Scarbough Hotel looking out upon the ocean. I ordered a cooked seafood mix and got a bit of a surprise when my plate had a few fully whole prawns eyes and all staring back at me!

Once we finally made it to the blowhole and climbed a few rocks  for a bit.  The blow hole was sporadic but still neat to watch.

Next we headed down to the tidal pools.  One thing I have come to find out is that the Australians like blocking up pre-existing tidal pools and making pools or baths out of them. It’s a really neat concept. Kids can swim in the “ocean” baths without having to worry about waves or undercurrents. Almost every beach I have seen with igneous tidal rocks have these baths. It might be time to go take a dip…
